Embroidery on The Gardener’s Journal Lap Quilt

Get ready to be amazed by Marg Gibson, a proud owner of the incredibly versatile Solaris Sewing and Embroidery Machine!

Marg recently took on the challenge of creating the Gardener’s Journal Lap Quilt, one of my earlier patterns, and the results are absolutely stunning.

The Gardener’s Journal Design

This quilt was designed to be made using the quilt-as-you-go technique.

What makes the pattern extra special are templates for the hand-embroidered blocks featuring charming images of flowers and leaves you’d find in local gardens.

Marg’s creativity really shines through as she skillfully incorporates these delightful motifs into log cabin-like squares, giving the quilt a cozy and rustic feel.

But here’s where things get really cool: Marg put her Solaris to work. Using its scanning feature, she captured the hand embroidery images from the pattern pages.  With a few magical button presses, the Solaris automatically stitched out these intricate designs with remarkable precision. It’s like having a personal embroidery assistant that’s super fast!

Kudos to Marg for her brilliant idea and impressive execution!

The Gardener’s Journal quilt shows off Marg’s creativity and resourcefulness. The combination of her expert craftsmanship and the cutting-edge capabilities of the Solaris machine has resulted in a quilt that’s not only visually stunning but also completed in a fraction of the time it would take to hand embroider. It’s a win-win situation!

Kelley’s demonstration at ABQ’s Embroidery Demo Day

Kelley demonstrates the incredible IQ feature of the Solaris Sewing and Embroidery machine, allowing her to scan a line design from the pattern. See how she utilizes cotton thread and the line feature of IQ to effortlessly recreate a stunning redwork look. Around the 7:00 minute mark, Marg, who was at the presentation, talks about one little problem she ran into and how she fixed it.

The Gardener’s Journal quilt is a testament to the joy of quilting and the endless possibilities that come with embracing new technologies. It’s a true masterpiece that celebrates the beauty of nature and the artistry of Marg’s skilled hands. Bravo, Marg!
