Quilting Classes at ABQ Sewing Studio in Strathroy, Ontario

A new round of quilting classes for beginners will be starting in the next couple of months at ABQ Sewing Studio. At the end of this post you’ll find information about how you can register for Beginning Quilting I or II.

Current Class

The Beginning Quilting Class is into its sixth week. Last week’s reveal was an opportunity to show off the central part of our quilt. There are two size options, baby and lap.

Here’s what the students in our very first Beginning Quilting I class accomplished!

Would you like to take a class?

Beginning Quilting I

This class has been such a success that we’ll be offering it again. You will successfully finish your first baby or lap sized quilt while learning:

  • Rotary Cutting
  • Fabric Tips and Cutting Tricks
  • Block Assembly
  • Borders and Binding
  • Quilting by Machine

There are eight two- hour classes on the following Thursdays from 10 am till 12 noon.
May 2, 16, 23, 30th, June 6, 20, 27 and July 4th.
Cost: $80 plus $15 manual.

Beginning Quilting II (Prerequisite Beginning Quilting I)

Make the Scrappy Sampler Quilt, which is a generous lap size at 54” x 72”.

Building upon the foundations of quilting learned in Beginning Quilting I, we continue our adventure in quilting learning a multitude of techniques as we complete the 11 new blocks that are part of this quilt.

  • Color and Fabric Selection
  • Fussy Cutting
  • Curved Seams
  • Applique
  • Paper Piecing
  • Diagonal Sets
  • Quilt Block History

There are 10 two-hour classes on the following Thursdays from 2 to 4 pm:
April 18 and 25th, May 2, 16, 23, 30, June 6, 20, 27 and July 4th.
Cost: $100.00 plus $14.00 manual fee.

    It’s a simple pattern but there is lots to learn from start to finish. I’ve been thrilled to introduce these gals to quilting. It’s such fun for us all!
