What I did on my January holiday
I spent the last week in Ottawa helping out with the grandkids and I got a surprising amount of sewing and baking done.
Twins – double the work!
The kids just started daycare in January so while Mom and Dad are working they are confined to what I call Kiddy Alcatraz. I was there to help with the twins because Dad was out of the country and it really takes two bodies to keep on top of things with twins.
The schedule was wake up at 6 am, get breakfast, feed the nippers, get them dressed and then hold one while Leah got the other strapped into the car for the trip to Day Care. The day was then mine to shop, bake, clean, sew or whatever – sort of a homemaker’s holiday.
Sewing, Shopping, Baking, and more…
I visited IKEA (love that store), bought some outfits at the January sales, made two bags, bread, pizza, soup, donuts, a couple of pies, etc.
The donut making went a bit south when I had to make a double batch after adding too much liquid. This problem was solved by squirreling away some of the booty in the freezer and having family over to consume the excess. So tasty!
When the kids rolled in again at the end of the day we played, ate, gave them their bath and got them to bed. Being in Gramma-mode was a real treat!
P.S. the twins loved the donuts!
