November Sewing Café at ABQ Sewing Studio

It’s November, and time to start baking, using up some of the rhubarb from my garden. Way back, rhubarb was known as the ‘Pie Plant’. Makes sense, as it makes for a most delicious pie. Mixed with raspberries it was the perfect offering for my Sewing Café participants this past Wednesday.

Yum!

What’s sewing café?

Sewing Café takes place the first Wednesday of each month from 9 am till noon at the ABQ Sewing Studio. It fills up fast so be sure to register early. Everyone brings in whatever they’d like to work on. Sometimes participants come needing help and sometimes they just happily sew, sip their coffee and dig into the pie!

This month’s projects

Nuala, above, got together with her Besties Deb and Karen to create some Trifecta Bags (by Emmaline Bags) to donate to a Sarnia women’s shelter. They’ll be packed with toiletries for Christmas.

Deb and Karen made Trifecta Bags (Emmaline Bags pattern).
Lyn had never bound a quilt so I gave her a lesson on how it’s done, while Sarah cut out triangles using Marni Mitchell templates.
Mary got a lesson on how to layer backing, batting and the top of a Christmas runner to ready it for machine quilting. Merle cut out a Woolly, Woolly Bag and her Bacon and Biscuits Apron for the upcoming Tie One On Apron class.
But all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. Time to dig in to the rhubarb/raspberry pie with a blob of whip cream. Having blown your diet why not have a truffle and cookie as well!
