Many thanks to all of you for your wonderful entries to name my new multi-functional wallet.

Newsletter subscribers were given the opportunity to enter the naming contest for this new pattern. If you missed out because you’re not on our mailing list, be sure to add yourself so you get in on the fun next time. You can subscribe here. You’ll also receive a handy tip sheet for bag making!

Lots of good ideas

I received over 100 entries from all over Canada and the USA. We had lots of descriptive names like The Trendy Transforming Wallet and My Got It Together Wallet. The Accordion Wallet came up more than once as did the Chameleon Wallet.

Great minds must think alike because some of the words I have already used to name bags like ‘Everything’ and ‘Essentials’ and ‘Out & About’ were entered numerous times.

One of you liked a cat theme with the MEW (Multi Everything Wallet). Harry (my cat) certainly approved of that entry! Some of you were very complimentary to the design with names like the Wonder Wallet, Extraordinaire, Brenda’s Best Clutch, Luvit and the Amazing Wallet. Others had a humorous twist like the Triple Threat or the In the Mood Wallet. I think maybe in the mood for shopping?

How I decided

So you can see I had my work cut out for me picking a winner for the contest. In the end, with considerations like the length of the name, and if it had been used by any other pattern designer, I picked the entry Chatelaine submitted by Lynda Chiotti of Owen Sound, Ontario.

A Chatelaine was worn around the waist by in-charge women and attached to it were all of the essentials required for a busy day. I thought it was a nice nod to women of the past, showed strength, and had a great Canadian/Continental feel to it as well.

The winner

Meet Lynda Chiotti of Owen Sound, Ontario. Congratulations, Lynda!

Lynda Chiotti

Lynda will receive an autographed copy of the first pattern printed along with a hardware kit and matching zippers.

Where to buy the Chatelaine pattern

Hi Mary, Actually we are adding a video class for the Chatelaine Wallet to my MakeBagsWithBrenda site. It’ll be up in about a week I believe and will be on sale for a couple of weeks. You can watch for it there. It includes the pattern and video classes that take you through the whole project. http://www.makebagswithbrenda.com is the site.
