Make a Scrub Cap and Attach Your Mask

Is your mask getting uncomfortable around the ears because of rubbing elastic? There’s a solution for that. Attach your mask to a scrub hat. This video tutorial shows you how to sew a scrub cap.

Kits with written instructions, including template, are available at Among Brenda’s Quilts & Bags online store.

Sew a scrub cap to make your mask more comfortable

When you wear a mask for any length of time, you might find that as the mask shifts the area behind your ears starts to chafe. Not only is that uncomfortable, but it might lead you to touch your face as you adjust the mask. That’s the last thing you want to do.

A scrub cap prevents ‘ear fatigue’ by attaching the elastic on your mask to two buttons sewn to the scrub cap. The buttons that hold the mask are far away enough from your ear that you can use a telephone comfortably. Remember to clean your phone or handset!

While headband devices may slide down and cause headaches or sit uncomfortably on the top of your ears, this scrub hat is elasticized at the back so it stays firmly in place and doesn’t slip down your face. At the back of the cap, there is enough space to tuck your ponytail.

I found the same thing. I could afford to pay that, but I won’t pay that much to ship it. Seems crazy.
      Really like the pattern too.

Thank you Brenda. Love the video. I think I can do this now that I have the template for the crown.
