The Christmas Gift Tote

A decorative Christmas gift bag with lots of possibilities for gift giving!

Christmas gift tote

I designed this gift tote a few years ago and published it on Make Bags With Brenda, home to bagmaking classes using ABQ bag patterns. It’s such a nice gift bag I thought I would put it up here as well. You can make it for Christmas as designed or use fabric more suitable for other occasions. Enjoy!

How to make the gift bag

Find out what you need to make the project below. You’ll find supplies at ABQ’s online store. Download the Christmas Gift Tote Instructions pdf file to get the cutting guidelines along with step-by-step text instructions, then watch the video tutorial to make the bag.

Fill your Christmas gift bag with a bottle of wine, nuts, candies or other holiday goodies!

Fabric Requirements:

  • 3 Fat Quarters measuring 18″ x 22″
  • Pellon 809 Décor Bond one-sided fusible stabilizer 45″ width, 1/2 yard, .5m
  • Pellon TP971 Thermolam Plus Fusible Fleece, 5″ x 15″

Notions:

  • (2) 1 3/4″ Buttons
  •  18″ pearl cotton
  • embroidery needle
  • removable marking tool
  • 1/4″ foot
  • zigzag foot
  • rotary cutting supplies
  • basic sewing supplies
