DIY Fashion for Fall 2024

Do you make your own clothes? DIY fashion means you get exactly the look you want – not to mention the perfect fit!

Colour trends

For Fall 2024, the fashion colour trends are a balanced mix of rich, deep shades and brighter, unexpected tones. Choose from classic fall warmth or fresh and fashion-forward choices.

Key Fall Colours

Red Wine: A deep scarlet that adds sophistication, perfect for making a bold head-to-toe statement.

Sky Blue: Bright and breezy, this playful color adds vibrancy to fall wardrobes, often styled with contrasting shades like red or neutral tones.

Chocolate Brown: A standout neutral for the season, this color is flattering on many skin tones and works beautifully in luxurious fabrics like satin and knitwear.

Olive Green: An earthy and versatile color, bridging the transition from summer’s lime greens to autumn’s more muted palette.

Fiery Red: It’s a vibrant, bold red that exudes energy and confidence, making it perfect for standout fashion pieces. This hue is all about making a statement and can be seen across various collections in bold monochromatic looks or as an accent to more neutral outfits.

Latest sewing projects

Fall fashion alert! Crisp air and cozy layers are on the way. This year’s fashion trends: bold plaids, animal prints, earthy tones, chunky knits, and classic tailoring. Maybe, like me, you’ve been organizing your closet, tucking away your summer staples to make room for those chic, cool-weather looks.

It’s always fun to add some fresh pieces into the mix, and here’s a peek at some of my latest sewing projects, paired with favourite items from my wardrobe. I’ve added a pop of colour to brighten things up and keep my fall wardrobe feeling vibrant.

Turner Dress: The Turner Dress from Cashmerette is perfect for all seasons, with both long and short sleeve options. It’s designed with a large size range and multiple cup sizes to suit every body type, offering a comfortable yet flattering fit.

Brenda wears a Cashmerette Turner Dress that she made herself.

McCalls 7588: A beloved retired pattern from the 90s, featuring a unique tuck stitch shoulder detail and a shawl collar. If you’re looking for a modern twist, try the StyleArc Kennie Woven Top. The shoulder tuck detail can easily be added to any collared shirt for an updated look. Want to try this in a class? Let us know!

StyleArc Parker Ponte Pant: The perfect combination of comfort and style, these pants feature an elastic waist and a back patch pocket detail. Whether you cuff them or wear them straight, they’re ideal for both casual and smart looks. Paired with the Rhea Knit Top, it’s an outfit you’ll wear on repeat.
