Hello everyone! I hope you are having a safe and happy summer. Just in case you didn’t make it to my Grand Opening, held July 27 and 28th, here’s a photo recap.
We had a plan to hang quilts from the front of the building and our friend Horst obliged by fastening a stout wire to the façade and going up the ladder to hang them first thing Friday morning.
Kathy and I worked to prepare the goodies we were serving to the crowd. As we all know wherever quilters and sewers go, so goes good food!
The doors opened at 9 each morning. Everything was cleaned, polished and scrubbed and ready for our guests!
Our first 50 guests received a free emoji to hang from their purses. If you see one out there on your journeys you’ll know where it came from!
As you know we had a lot of nice gifts available for our draws.
Our specials included a buy 3 get the next 1 free deal on patterns and bag zippers. Those who booked and paid for one of my bag classes received 10% off.
The new Sewing Café was a big hit. There are only a few spots left for the upcoming months, so if you’d like to join us, contact us soon.
On Saturday our local radio station myFM, who had been advertising all week, came for an in-person visit. Their outdoor boom box kept the place humming!
The studio space is available for rental for sewing groups and sewing teachers. I am looking forward to having Betty Van Es from Imagine It! join us. Betty teaches beginner sewers how to use their machines and specializes in beginner sewing projects.
Quilting pro Kelley Richardson, lately of Joyce’s Sewing Shop, is also a prospective teacher. I look forward to sharing news of her upcoming classes in future newsletters.
People are still talking about our event. Many class spots were purchased, we sold a lot of product and the sewing café filled; making all that hard work well worthwhile. Stop by sometime to see the studio in person, but call ahead (226-376-0130). I may be out teaching a bag class at a shop near you!
