Strathroy United Church Quilters

The Strathroy United Church Quilters are a flexible group whose members meet at the Strathroy United Church located at 131 Front Street West in Strathroy Ontario (about one half hours drive west of London Ontario).

The group has been in existence since 2003. Profits from quilting undertaken are donated back to the Strathroy United Church. The group hand quilts pieced quilt tops for individuals and also raises money from the sale of quilts at church bazaars and auctions. The members meet several times during the week when a quilt is on the frame in a room at the church especially reserved for their quilting activities. They are generally in full swing from 1:30 pm to about 3:30 pm. Friendship is a big part of the binding that holds this group together as they make their meticulous stitches on the current project.

A special project undertaken in 2004 was the Anniversary Quilt to mark the 125th anniversary of the church. This red and white quilt is a signature quilt with a central embroidered panel depicting the front of the church. Fabric was donated by Mr. Ted Brouwer of Brouwer Textiles in Strathroy.

Should you be interested in contacting the group to have your quilt top hand quilted please call Madeline Goodwin at 519-246-1496. If you are a hand quilter, live in the area and are interested in joining the group on a regular or occasional basis please call Madeline at the above phone number.
